Increasing Governmental Accountability

We recognized the need for an organization equipped with the technical knowledge, strategic insight, and community-centered approach necessary to support non-metro communities. Many rural and underserved areas face barriers to accessing resources, navigating systems, strengthening collaboration, and building long-term solutions that reflect the realities of their communities.

Civic South is a Serve South initiative focused on strengthening civic health in Georgia’s hometown communities through citizen engagement, public leadership education, resource navigation, community data, and civic participation.

Serving as a local organizing and implementing partner, Civic South works alongside community leaders, residents, and organizations to help communities better understand local needs, connect citizens to resources, encourage public involvement, and strengthen the civic infrastructure needed to solve local challenges.

Modeled after the Civic Health Index framework, Civic South supports rural and South Georgia communities by helping turn data, partnerships, and community engagement into practical local action.
